Mpaayon is a Samburu women living in Northern Kenya. She is widowed with 3 children. Mpaayon supports her family by selling her beadwork and raising goats. She is a wildlife conservationist. An appointed leader of the Mama Tembos or Elephant Mothers by the Kalma conservancy (see my journal for more information.) She daily monitors an elephant corridor and reports her findings back to the conservancy and Save the Elephants. She says she is proud of her work and is grateful for the extra income.
